422GW Dash Cam
Nextbase 422GW: More Than a Dash Cam
Voice call and message on the move using the world’s first 1440p Dash Cam with Alexa built-in. Use Alexa to play music, find parking, control smart home devices and talk directly to your Dash Cam. Emergency SOS will alert the emergency services to your location in the event of an accident. Intelligent Parking Mode records any bump or physical movement on the vehicle when left unattended. The 422GW is also compatible with the Nextbase Rear-View Camera Modules to add a second camera. Personalise your Dash Cam and choose one of 3 different rear camera views from Rear, Cabin or Rear Window view.
The 422GW Dash Cam records at 1440p and 30 frames per second. Known as Quad HD, this higher quality recording is four times the definition of standard HD. This means that 4 times more pixels (2560×1440 pixels) are visible, delivering sharper and more defined images. You will be able to read license plates at a greater distance in more detail and also zoom in without losing quality. The Dash Cam also has the option of recording at 1080p (60fps) and 720p if you wish.
In the event of an accident, the Nextbase Emergency SOS can alert the emergency services and call them to your location. If an incident is detected, the Emergency SOS system will ring your phone to ensure you are ok. If the call goes unanswered, emergency services will be alerted automatically. The message will include crucial medical data such as blood type and medical history as well as your GPS location to facilitate efficient treatment and quickly locate your vehicle.
The world’s first 1440p Dash Cam with Alexa built-in. You can use Alexa to play music, place calls, listen to audiobooks, hear the news, check the weather, control smart home devices, get directions, find parking, and more — all while you keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
Using Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy technology and Wi-Fi connectivity, your latest video files can easily be sent to your smartphone or tablet. By automatically recording two videos, the low res version will be readily available to view, whilst the high res version can be downloaded for detailed analysis.
Nextbase Dash Cams use two satellites systems to detect locations as accurately and reliably as possible. Information is gathered from both the American GPS satellite and the Russian GLONAS system for unparalleled data service. On top of this, the new Nextbase Series 2 Dash Cams refresh at 10HZ. This means that every second, the Dash Cam captures 10 data readings, ensuring that the trace shown on Google Maps is accurate and smooth.
Click & Go
Our exclusive Click & Go Pro car mount has integrated magnetic power connectors. Install and remove your Dash Cam with just one hand. The high strength neodymium magnets on the mount and Dash Cam attach automatically so you are ready to go!
As soon as you park and your ignition is turned off, the Dash Cam will automatically switch into “parking mode” by shutting down everything except the G Force sensor. The sensitivity of the G Force sensor is then increased dramatically. With only the G Force sensor active, the power consumption is incredibly low, using the internal battery of the dash cam to detect any knocks or bumps to your vehicle for over a week.
A G-Sensor is an accelerometer that registers values based on the amount of force applied during an impact. Reaching a pre-set value will cause the recorded footage to be protected and moved into a folder that cannot be overwritten by any other recorded footage. The padlock will appear in the centre of the screen once the G-Sensor is activated, thus indicating to the driver that the file is locked.
Loop recording on a dash cam allows for continuous recording even if the SD memory card reaches full capacity. This means older files are overwritten once the SD card reaches its file size limit. The Dash Cam will be recording on a continuous loop when powered on. In the event of an incident, any files protected manually or by the G-Sensor will not be overwritten and stay on the SD card.
Play, edit and share your Dash Cam footage on PC or Mac (Windows 7/OSX 10.9) using the newly developed playback software MyNextbase Player. The software has been developed in-house to provide a fully enhanced playback experience, with the inclusion of an updated Google Maps feature, speed and G-Sensor readings to display all important information that can be passed on to an insurance provider.
How easy is it to install?
The good news is our Click & Go powered magnetic mount has been designed exclusively by the Nextbase technicians to make fitting our Dash Cams swift and simple. With the car power cable connected from the cigarette lighter socket directly into the mount, it leaves the Dash Cam itself completely wireless, allowing it to be easily slotted in and out of position.
What should I look for in a Dash Cam?
The purpose of a Dash Cam is to record footage should it ever need to be used as an independent witness to an incident while on the road. Which means the most important factor to consider when choosing your Dash Cam is video quality. Generally, the more expensive Dash Cams boast top of the range sensors, anti-glare lenses and high-resolution picture, resulting in higher quality video and meaning more chance of being able to record a number plate or other key detail should it ever be required as evidence.
Where does all this footage get stored?
All of this recorded footage has to be stored somewhere of course. Thankfully it couldn’t be simpler with a Nextbase Dash Cam, which come with a MicroSD memory card slot ready for a memory card on which the video data can be automatically stored. We recommend that high-speed, top quality memory cards are used, such as SanDisk class 10. A 32GB card will store approximately four hours of footage, meaning you’ll always have your latest drive recorded to the card.
What does the sensor do?
Sensors form the beating heart of our Dash Cams as they convert light coming into the lens into data that forms the video footage. And to ensure that our Dash Cams remain the most innovative and advanced on the market, we work with the industry’s best sensor manufacturers, such as Sony, to provide crystal clear footage.
Do the Dash Cams have GPS?
All of our latest Dash Cams – from the 312GW and above – come with Global Positioning System (GPS) included. This means that your Dash Cam will automatically track and map out your journey as you’re driving, logging this information along with the video footage to ensure that your exact location can be pinpointed and proven in the event of an incident.
Do the Dash Cams have Wi-Fi?
Any Nextbase Dash Cam featuring the letter ‘W’ in the model number – such as 312GW – features Wi-Fi capabilities. This means there’s no requirement for fiddly cables or a PC connection in order to upload your recorded footage, simply transfer direct to your phone or tablet using the embedded Wi-Fi connection.
Do dash cameras have audio?
Yes, Dash Cameras record audio to compliment the video recordings, with many featuring built-in microphones and speakers. This will record audio in the vehicle when driving, which can be used to support evidence in the result of an incident. If you prefer, the audio recording can easily be muted or disabled on video recordings via the menu settings.
