Is it possible to use the DDJ-SX3 as a general purpose MIDI controller and to operate MIDI-compatible DJ software other than Serato DJ Pro?

A4 Operation is possible. When using DDJ-SX3, pay attention to the following points. (1) DDJ-SX3 automatically switches to the "mode optimized to Serato DJ Pro" when Serato DJ Pro is running and to the "general purpose MIDI controller mode" when Serato DJ Pro is not running. Furthermore, the general purpose MIDI controller mode can be forcibly set in the utilities mode, regardless of whether or not Serato DJ Pro is running. For details, see "Forcefully using the unit as the general MIDI controller" of the operating instructions. (2) In order to operate the MIDI-compatible DJ software with DDJ-SX3, the various operating interfaces of DDJ-SX3 must be assigned to the various functions of the DJ software. For details on assigning the interfaces, see your DJ software's operating instructions.

How should I adjust the buffer size?

By lowering the buffer size setting, the latency (the period from when DDJ-SX3 is operated until the sound is output) can be shortened. If there are interruptions in the sound, increase the buffer size, but note that this makes the latency longer. Set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.

    For Mac users
The buffer size can be adjusted in SETUP of Serato DJ Pro.

    For Windows users
Click the Audio tab in SETUP of Serato DJ Pro and then click the [LAUNCH DRIVER PANEL] button to display the ASIO settings utility screen. On this screen, you can set the buffer size and kernel buffer size.
Follow the procedure below to set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.
Check that no interruptions in the sound occur with the default setting (buffer size: 256 samples).

[When no interruptions in the sound occur at the default setting]
    1. Start [DDJ_SX3 ASIO Settings Utility] and set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.
    2. Then change the value to [2] in [Kernel Buffer Size] and check that no interruptions in the sound occur.
    3. If no interruptions in the sound occur, set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur. If interruptions in the sound occur, change the value to [3] in [Kernel Buffer Size].

[When interruptions in the sound occur with the default setting]
    1. Start [DDJ_SX3 ASIO Settings Utility] and change the value to [4] in [Kernel Buffer Size].
    2. Set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.

Is it possible to set microphone sound not to be output from the [BOOTH OUT] terminals?

    Yes. Follow the instructions below.
    1. Connect this unit and your computer using a USB cable.
    2. Open the setting utility
    3. Click the MIC tab.
    4. Go to [MIC OUT TO BOOTH] and select [OFF].
Please refer to "Changing the settings" in the operating instruction

How do I use "COMPRESSOR" described in the operating instructions?

Please use it when the volume varies depending on the speaker. It does not work when the slider is at the left end. If it is set to the right end, the variation will be the smallest.

Does DDJ-SX3 have a fader start function?

DDJ-SX3 supports the crossfader start and channel fader start. For details, see "Using the fader start function" in the operating instructions.
However, if external inputs are used, the fader start function does not work.

There are three types of volume adjustments: with the TRIM control, with the channel faders and with the MASTER LEVEL control. What is the difference between them?

TRIM: Adjusts the level of the sound input to the respective channels from the deck of the DJ application or external device.
CHANNEL FADER: Adjusts the level of sound output from the respective channels for mixing.
MASTER LEVEL: Adjusts the level of sound output from DDJ-SX3 to an external device.

    Examples of use
    1. Play tracks.
    2. Move the channel fader away from you.
    3. Adjust TRIM so that the orange indicator on the channel level indicator lights at the peak level.
    4. Use MASTER LEVER to adjust the sound level of the speaker connected to the MASTER OUT terminal.
